Can you safely open that link your friend just shared on Twitter? Is it safe for work?

URL (web address) shorteners are widely used in social media today, they make life easier by compressing long web addresses into small ones, like ow.ly/kG41o. But when you receive one of these links, you have no way of knowing where it will lead.

xpando - link checker™ will surf the web for you, and give you the final destination of that short link. You can quickly and safely check the links you get via all the popular social media outlets before you actually open them. Once you view the final destination of the address, you can open it in Safari®, or copy it to the clipboard with one touch.

If you are a publisher, xpando is an excellent tool to verify that the shortened links you just created actually work and go to their intended destination.

Features:

- Easy URL entry. Paste or type the address like you would in your web browser
- Full display of the servers and sites visited. You will be surprised how many redirects a simple request can get
- Several types of redirects are recognized and performed: HTTP header, Meta tag and JavaScript redirects
- xpando does not execute any JavaScript on your device. It only looks for some types of redirects and follows the link, without executing any JavaScript
- xpando accepts cookies from visited sites but, like a browser set on privacy mode, it deletes them right after it displays results
- When connecting to secure sites (starting with https://), xpando only accepts HTTPS connections over TLS 1.2 or higher to protect your privacy
- HTTPS connections with invalid digital certificates are refused
- 100% Private! xpando does not send your queries to any third parties. All the communications are limited to your device and the sites or servers contacted while discovering the final destination. No history is saved, except for the temporary storage of the current request.
